Managing and Adapting Practice (MAP) Training

What is MAP?

MAP is a clinical framework and decision support system designed to help improve the quality of mental healthcare delivered to children and adolescents in NYS.  MAP was created by PracticeWise,LLC, and extensive research and testing has been conducted that demonstrates its effectiveness in helping clinicians deliver care that improves youth mental health outcomes.
MAP provides NYS' mental health agencies and programs, and the supervisors and clinicians within them, with a comprehensive online resource to assist them in coordinating and supplementing the use of evidence-based practices for children’s mental health. MAP, with its focus on tailored care and measurable outcomes, also helps to prepare NYS'  clinical workforce to meet the new demands and requirements of NYS' transition, to managed behavioral healthcare.

(1) MAP Pre-training "What to Expect When You're MAPPING!" Webinar:
Prior to the 4-day training, all registered participants must attend a pre-training webinar which will cover: (1) an introduction to the EBTDC MAP training and (2) an introduction to Microsoft Excel. The pre-training webinar is held 1 week prior to the in-person training.

Please Note: This pre-training webinar is mandatory, and is not the same as the MAP informational webinar. Official participants will receive more information about the pre-training webinar after being enrolled the program.

(2) MAP Full Day Trainings:
Consists of 4 full training days, with one additional mid-point webinar day scheduled approximately 8 weeks after the initial training:
  • Day 1:  Overview of MAP
  • Day 2:  Anxiety and Trauma
  • Day 3:  Depression and Disruptive Behavior Disorder
  • Day 4:  C3 - Connect, Cultivate and Consolidate
  • Mid-Point Meeting: Progress check and Portfolio Review

(3) Bi-Weekly Consultation Webinars:
Training participants will receive ongoing consultation from MAP trainers, with bi-weekly clinician calls for four months following the initial training, totaling eight 45-minute sessions.
