Improving Family Engagement in First Episode Psychosis Treatment 

(Co-PIs: Hoagwood, Lindsey, & Dixon)

Co-Principal Investigators Drs. Hoagwood, Lindsey, and Dixon will collaborate to adapt an evidence-based peer parent navigator intervention, called Family Connectors, in which trained and supervised family peer advocates will deliver a family engagement intervention to parents/caregivers of youth/young adults.

The study will test whether a low-burden parent peer intervention improves family participation in services, as well as youth/young adult outcomes. Research has shown that reducing the duration of untreated psychosis for individuals experiencing FEP, and providing specialized, comprehensive, early intervention services, improves youth/young adult outcomes.
