As a veteran mental health advocate and a pioneer of the mental health family support movement in New York State, Geraldine Burton is committed to the principles of collaboration, partnership, and cooperation with service agencies and with the research community. She has worked collaboratively with the McSilver Institute’s Clinical Education and Innovation Department (CEID) and Technical Assistance Center (TAC) teams to plan and implement a series of offerings supporting mental health clinical and family peer support providers and other related programs.
Geraldine has participated in curriculum development for these programs: Parent Empowerment Program (PEP) training, 4 Rs and 2 Ss for Parent Partners, Veteran Families Unite, and Family and Food Matters! In addition, she has led many CTAC activities in past, specifically pertaining to family peer support. She has identified, planned, and implemented a series of training and technical assistance offerings geared to the needs of family support programs.
Geraldine is a co-facilitator and New York State trainer for the NAMI NYC Metro Family-to-Family, NAMI Basics Education and Home Front programs. She is a member of Families Together in NYS, Inc., Families on the Move! and the FPA Workforce Development Advisory Council.
