Alissa Gleacher, PhD is a research assistant professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the New York University Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She received her B.A. in psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles. Dr. Gleacher went on to study clinical psychology at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where she received her M.A. and Ph.D under the mentorship of Bruce F. Chorpita, PhD. Dr. Gleacher completed a pre-doctoral internship at Didi Hirsch Community Mental Health Center in the Child Program.
Dr. Gleacher’s clinical training focused on working with children and adolescents across the diagnostic spectrum (including anxiety and mood disorders, pervasive disorders of development, and behavioral problems). Dr. Gleacher worked at the Center for Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Anxiety and Stress Program before joining our staff. She specializes in cognitive behavioral therapy, behavior therapy, and functional behavioral assessment. Dr. Gleacher has received specialized training in the treatment of anxiety and mood disorders, autism spectrum disorders, school-based mental health interventions, and a multitude of assessment measures.
Dr. Gleacher’s research focuses on the identification of evidence-based treatments and the implementation/dissemination of these treatments in community settings. She has been involved in numerous research investigations and is currently the project director of the Evidence Based Treatment Dissemination Center, which is a New York State Initiative to train mental health practitioners across the state in EBTs for youth. As part of the project, Dr. Gleacher trains mental health practitioners and provides ongoing consultation in the use of the EBTs to community clinicians. Dr. Gleacher has given presentations related to her research at professional conferences including the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies and the American Psychological Association. Moreover, Dr. Gleacher was recently recognized at the Mental Health Services Research Conference with a New Investigators award.
